Hair Oiling - Why you should incorporate this into your haircare routine!
The Importance of Hair Oiling
Hair Oiling has been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years in many different cultures. It is rooted in Ayurvedic wellness where head massages with herbal oils are used to strengthen your hair, prevent hair loss, stimulate hair growth and it is a deeply relaxing ritual. A lot of families have their own hair oiling traditions, using their own homemade hair oil concoctions infused with years of tradition, legacy and love.
Benefits
- When you apply oil to your hair, the oil forms a fine coat over your hair shaft making your hair water resistant and acts as a protective barrier preventing damage from occurring and locks in the moisture.
- Your hair can absorb up to 30-50% of water which can cause a PH imbalance as our hair is naturally acidic. This can lead to brittle, unhealthy hair. Oils help to prevent this balance from occurring.
- Good quality hair oils also condition and nourish the hair, work as a remedy for scalp irritations, prevent hair loss and stimulate hair growth.

Think of your hair as a plant, your scalp is the soil, and within the soil are your hair roots. Just like a plant, your hair needs nutrients and needs to be fertilised. So add a healthy haircare habit like hair oiling to your hair care routine because with consistency (apply oil 1-2 times a week), it will make your hair healthier and stronger.
